Dot Bathroom

Dot has Multiple Sclerosis and has a live-in nurse to help her.  Her bathroom needed to be remodeled to fit her needs. Dot uses a wheelchair to get around, and there wasn't a lot of space in the bathroom with the tub in the way.

The nurses had to lift her out of her wheelchair and put her over the tub and into a shower chair, which was dangerous.  I removed the traditional tub and turned the whole bathroom into one big shower.  With the shower floor flush with bathroom floor, it accommodates her wheelchair nicely.  Now she just showers in a special wheelchair that can be rolled around in the bathroom.  She and her nurse love it!

I installed a long shower arm to bathe more conveniently.  I also installed grab bars and soap dishes in convenient places so Dot could shower as much on her own as possible.  Note the shower valve is where Dot wanted it to turn her shower hotter or colder.
